It is not unusual in Asia to see a whole family, plus a goat, speeding by on a motorbike. Everything is transported by bike, including people, shopping, livestock and hardware. We have seen so many oddities which have made us laugh out loud, but all too often they stream past before we get the chance to photograph them. Some of our favourite highlights include a full size bathtub, a live cow with its legs tied up, a family of five, the driver eating a sandwich whilst the man in the middle held a pot and the man at the back held a live turkey- sensibly on the opposite side from the sandwich. Realistically it would be easier to tell you what we haven’t seen on the back of a bike!

Whilst waiting for a Russian with visa issues to board our bus at the Cambodian boarder we were lucky enough to be parked up at the Cambodian security end. The stream of traffic was relentless, most bikes, trucks and cars were waved through but if the vehicle looked too unsteady, the security forces would signal them to pull in. Various amounts of money and mangoes (no joke) changed hands and the driver was permitted to continue across the border, if he was able to regain his balance and start his engine. We managed to snap a few gems before we were told “NO PHOTO!”
