Sailing The Whitsundays

Sailing The Whitsundays

We spent a weekend sailing around the Whitsunday islands on a small sailing boat. We visited the beautiful Whitehaven beach and spotted whales from the boat. We also snorkelled at several sites around the islands and saw all sorts of colourful fish. The water was crystal clear and the scenery was magical.

Our small boat, The Prima,  should have accommodated twelve people but luckily enough just six of us had booked on to the trip that weekend. The cabins were small and there was not much space at all for the six of us, it was hard to imagine the boat at full capacity with twice the amount of people.

On the last day of the trip the wind was quite strong so we were able to sail the boat back to the marina, at an almost 45 degree angle! It was an exhilarating feeling, sailing through the stunning waters with all the other boats.

  1. I spent 5 days sailing in the Whitsundays in 1988, and just returned from another 5 days there (on land this time). What an amazingly stunning area. Whitehaven Beach should be called White heaven beach. it hasn’t changed in 27 years! I hope you got to go to the Great Barrier Reef. Buon Viaggio, Cristina

    • Wow, its amazing that it hasn’t changed in all that time. Hopefully it can remain an unspoilt area of beauty for many more years to come.

  2. Wow that looks fab, so envious. Xx Mummio and Pops
