Phillip Island is situated south east of Melbourne and its rugged beauty is home to all sorts of wildlife. We got up close and personal with the pelicans at the lunch time feeding session in San Remo before crossing the bridge to Phillip Island.
The islands biggest tourist draw is the nightly penguin parade which happens at dusk. Hundreds of tiny penguins make their way from the sea up the beach to their nesting area. It is quite expensive to view the penguin parade and due to the sensitivity of the animals flash photography is not permitted. We managed to snap a picture of this early bird who came up the beach well before dark and the start of the official viewing spectacle.
